Our vision is for a world-class Cancer and Wellness Centre dedicated to providing the very best in medical care and treatment; combined with global research programs for new treatments to help stop cancer from destroying the lives of so many people.
The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre will build on the years of cancer care at the Austin Hospital that has been provided since 1882.
It will bring together the hospital's extensive existing cancer services and the research facilities of the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, all under the one roof in a purpose-built facility.
A special feature will be the Wellness Centre. Offering a full range of complementary therapies to support people throughout their medical treatment; extending the wellness philosophy that will underpin the whole approach of the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.
The Wellness Centre will provide much needed space to further develop some patient-centred aspects of care such as relaxation, massage and meditation, as well as providing education and information for patients and their families.
It will be a tranquil and inspirational space for patients to actively balance the various aspects of their treatment including a combination of 'quiet space' for reflection, and 'community space' for the sharing of ideas, experiences and support.
