For more than 50 years, since our inception as Mt Olivet Hospital, our mission of care for those who need it most has been enabled by the benevolence of others.
The land on which the hospital stands was bequeathed to the Sisters of Charity by Mary Bedford in honour of her good friend Lillian Cooper, the first woman doctor registered in Queensland.
Miss Bedford's wish was that the Sisters would establish a hospice for the sick and dying, especially those who were poor.
Now, as we continue to build a better hospital through the expansion of our services, income from people remembering us in their will is our most important source of private funding.
For many people, a gift in your Will is an opportunity to round out a lifetime of giving in a way that will continue to make a positive difference.
If you have already made a Will:
You can still leave a gift to St Vincent's Brisbane. All you need to do is include a codicil, which simply states that you would like to remember the hospital in this way.
How to word your bequest
When making a bequest, it's important that you instruct your solicitor to use the correct terms. To leave a bequest to St Vincent's Brisbane, just use the following words:
"I give and bequeath ______________________ to St Vincent's Health and Aged Care Limited for the charity purposes of St Vincent's Brisbane, 411 Main Street, Kangaroo Point, Brisbane. Queensland. 4169."
